The Ateneo Blue Eagles managed to hold the defending champion FEU Tamaraws in overtime, 69-68, on Wednesday, November 30, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, to advance to the finals of UAAP Season 79.
FEU had a chance to win the game in the dying seconds but Ron Dennison was unable to get to the ball in time.
Thirdy Ravena and Mike Nieto led the Blue Eagles with 13 points each, while Isaac Go, who secured the most crucial offensive rebounds and scored the winning put-back with 1:20 left, finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
FEU was led by the 15 points and 7 rebounds of Monbert Arong. Raymar Jose, who had a 20-point, 23-rebound performance in last game, had 12 points and 12 boards.
The Game 1 of the UAAP Season 79 Finals, the dream match-up, between La Salle and Ateneo is set for Saturday, December 3, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
