The Meralco Bolts snatched the first victory of their season, defeating the NLEX Road Warriors, 106-93, on Saturday (December 3) in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The reigning Rookie of the Year Chris Newsome tallied 28 points, 10 rebounds and two assists to lead the Bolts.
Rookie Ed Daquioag, who was drafted by Meralco in the PBA special draft, had an impactful game and played like veteran with 23 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Sean Anthony led six players in double figures with 15 points while Eric Camson, Garvo Lanete, and Raul Soyud all scored 14 apiece for NLEX.
