Final: SEA Games 2017 Medal Tally / Count / Standings – 29th Southeast Asian Games


The top athletes from Southeast Asian nations meet in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the 29th SEA Games.

The 2017 SEA Games held from August 14 to August 30, with 404 events in 38 sports have been contested. The multi-sport event was officially opened on August 19.

The host nation Malaysia emerged as the overall champion of the 2017 SEA Games after dominating the medal tally with 323 medals in total (145 Golds, 92 Silvers and 86 Bronzes).

Thailand, the defending overall champion, ranked second in the medal standing with 72 Golds, 86 Silvers and 88 Bronzes, a total of 246 medals.

Vietnam had 58 Golds, 50 Silvers and 60 Bronzes to stay in the top-three finish in the overall medal count.

Singapore, with just one gold fewer than Vietnam's gold, settled for fourth place overall with 57 Golds, 58 Silvers and 73 Bronzes.

Indonesia on 191 medals (38 Golds, 63 Silvers and 90 Bronzes) finished in fifth place.

Philippines, who will host the 2019 SEA Games, remained in sixth place at the end of the event with a total of 121 medals (24 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronzes).

Myanmar finished their campaign on seventh place with seven Golds, 10 Silvers and 20 Bronzes.

Cambodian's athletes brought home a total of 17 medals (three Golds, two Silvers and 12 Bronzes), and they ranked eighth overall in the medal table.

Laos' two Golds, three Silvers and 21 Bronzes put them in ninth place in the table of total medals.

Brunei and Timor-Leste failed to win any gold in the region's largest multi-sports and ended the biennial games in 10th and 11th place overall. Brunei collected five Silvers and nine Bronzes, while Timor-Leste captured three Bronzes.

The Medals

SEA Games 2017 will feature 38 sports with 404 golds up for grabs.

Royal Selangor, a Malaysian pewter manufacturer and retailer, designed the medals for the 29th SEA Games.

2015 SEA Games Medal Tally

Thailand finished at the top of the medal tally, with 95 golds, 83 silvers and 69 bronzes. Singapore, the host nation for 2015 SEA Games, finished their campaign with 84 golds, 73 silvers and 102 bronzes for the second spot. Vietnam bagged 74 golds, 85 silvers and 86 bronzes for third place overall.

4th - Malaysia (62 golds, 58 silvers, 66 bronzes)
5th - Indonesia (47 golds, 61 silvers, 74 bronzes)

Philippines on 131 medals (29 golds, 36 silvers and 66 bronzes) finished 6th place.

7th - Myanmar (12 golds, 26 silvers, 31 bronzes)
8th - Cambodia (1 golds, 5 silvers, 9 bronzes)
9th - Laos (0 golds, 4 silvers, 25 bronzes)
10th - Brunei (0 golds, 1 silver, 6 bronzes)
11th - Timor-Leste (0 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze)
