The Ateneo Blue Eagles claimed first win in the opening day of the UAAP Season 79 after beating the UST Growling Tigers, 73-69, on Sunday, September 4 at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Aaron Black posted a game-high 23 points with seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks to lead Ateneo, while Thirdy Ravena had a double-double of his own with 17 points and 11 rebounds along with three assists.
The UST were led by Louie Vigil with 21 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Joco Macasaet contributed 12 markers and nine boards.
