Perlas Pilipinas, the women's national basketball team of the Philippines, will open its FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division A 2017 campaign versus Japan, who ruled the 2015 Championship.
The Philippines, which is now ranked ninth in Asia, is back to the top level of women's basketball after they promoted from Division B to Division A in 2015.
Perlas Pilipinas is composed of Afril Bernardino, France Mae Cabinbin, Camille Sambile, Allana May Lim, Jack Danielle Animam, Cindy Resultay, Analyn Almazan, Raisa Rose Dy, Clare Castro, Marizze Andrea Tongco, Janine Pontejos and Gemma Miranda and will be coached by Pat Aquino.
This year's Fiba Asia Women's Cup is also a qualifier for the 2018 Fiba Women's Cup, with four spots at stake.
