With only one week to go before the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup, the PBA has approved the trade between San Miguel Beermen's Arnold Van Opstal and Globalport Batang Pier's Von Pessumal.
The trade was announced on PBA's Twitter account on Monday, July 10, 2017.

Both players are rookie and under the Gilas Cadet program.
Pessumal, who will be playing for Gilas Pilipinas in Jones Cup and SEA Games, expressed on his Twitter account how thankful he is to be part of Beermen.
