Judoka Mariya Takahashi beat the defending champion Surattana Thongsri of Thailand in the women’s -70kg finals to take the 21st gold medal for the Philippines in the 2017 SEA Games on Sunday, August 27.
The 16-year-old Fil-Japanese Takahashi unleashed her power by way of ippon in 48 seconds against Thongsri, upsetting the former gold medalist from 2007 to 2015.
