The Lyceum Pirates came away with 85-83 victory over the CSB Blazers in the NCAA Season 95 men's basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Friday, September 20.
After Justing Gutang drilled back-to-back baskets to give the Blazers a one-point lead early in the final period, Jaycee Marcelino poured eight of his 22 points to help the Pirates secured their ninth win in 12 games. Marcelino also tallied seven rebounds and 3 steals.
Mike Nzeusseu added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Nino Ibanez contributed 11 markers and seven boards for Lyceum.
Unique Naboa and Kendrix Belgica, who kept the St. Benilde within winning distance, combined for 27 points. Belgica had also seven rebounds, and two steals. CSB’s Justin Gutang recorded a triple-double of 15 points, 10 boards and 10 dimes in a losing effort.
The Blazers suffered its fifth defeat in six games and fell to a 6-5 standings.
