WBC mandatory challenger Mark Magsayo is the latest Filipino to become a world champion in boxing after he wrested the WBC featherweight title from Gary Russell Jr. with a majority decision win Sunday at Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Two judges Mark Consentino and Henry Grant scored Magsayo a 115-113 winner over Russell. Judge Lynne Carter scored their bout a draw, 114-114.

"This is my dream. My dream finally came true," said an Magsayo moments after the victory. "This is my dream since I was a kid."
