Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets

The matchup for the 2023 NBA Finals is set.

The 2023 championship series will pit the Denver Nuggets, seeking their first championship, against the Miami Heat, seeking their fourth. Nikola Jokic and Jimmy Butler will lead their respective teams in a battle for the title.

The Nuggets, the top seed in the Western Conference, defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns in the first two rounds of the playoffs, and then swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals to reach the NBA Finals.

The Heat, the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, faced elimination following the play-in home loss to the Atlanta Hawks, but Miami bounced back to punch its ticket to the playoffs with a home win over the Chicago Bulls. They stunned the basketball world by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks (1st seed), New York Knicks (5th seed), and Boston Celtics (2nd seed) to reach the championship series.

The Miami Heat have made NBA Finals history by becoming the second No. 8 seed to reach the championship series. The first team to do so was the 1999 New York Knicks, who were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs, 4-1.
