Faith Nisperos and Dindin Santiago-Manabat showcased their prowess as they led Akari to a hard-fought victory against the determined Gerflor in a thrilling five-set match, with scores of 25-20, 22-25, 27-25, 25-27, and 15-12. This triumph allowed Akari to conclude their Pool A campaign on a high note in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference.

Former collegiate star Nisperos led the Chargers with an impressive performance, tallying 18 points, which included 17 kills and a block, along with 14 digs and six excellent receptions. Manabat also contributed significantly, shining with 17 points, comprising 14 successful attacks and three blocks. Their outstanding contributions played a vital role in ending the team's three-game losing streak in the pool phase.

Eli Soyud made a significant impact for the Chargers, contributing nine points to the team's success. Ezra Madrigal and Janine Marciano each added eight points to the scoreboard. Meanwhile, setter Jaja Maraguinot delivered 14 excellent sets in addition to scoring three points. Libero Bang Pineda displayed remarkable defensive skills, registering 16 digs and 12 excellent receptions.

Alyssa Bertolano emerged as the top scorer for the Defenders, contributing an impressive 14 points. Ranya Musa provided valuable support with 13 hits, while Janine Navarro and Rap Aguilar each added nine points to the team's tally. Ivy Perez and Dorog also made significant contributions, finishing with seven points apiece.

Akari secured the fourth position in Pool A and is set to compete against the fourth-place team from Pool B in the quest for ninth place on Thursday. On the other hand, Gerflor faced tough challenges in Pool A, losing all four matches, and will now battle against Foton for the 11th place also on Thursday.
