Mary Joy Tabal bagged the Philippines’ very first gold medal in the 29th Southeast Asian Games after ruling the Women's marathon on Saturday morning (August 19).

Tabal's official time was 2:48:26. Silver medalist Hoang Thi Thanh from Vietnam finished with 2:55.43, followed by Thailand’s Natthaya Thanaronnawat with 2:58.17 for bronze medal.
