Serbia hands Gilas Pilipinas a 59-point beatdown

Serbia handed Gilas Pilipinas a 59-point beatdown, 126-67, in the Group Stage of the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Monday, September 2.

Nikola Jokic had a dominant performance with 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Nemanja Bjelica scored 20 points to lead the Serbians.

CJ Perez played well for the Philippines and finished with a team-high 16 points to go with three assists.

Paul Lee added 15 points in a losing effort.

Serbia built a double-digit lead from the first quarter and went on to dominate the game. The Serbian squad, who shot 75 percent from the field and knocked down 12 of their 22 threes, will play Italy on Wednesday to determine the top team of Group D.

The Philippines shot 37.3 percent overall and knocked down just four of their 24 three-point attempts.

The Philippine national basketball team will play Angola on Wednesday to determine which team finishes third and fourth in the Group D before moving into the 17th-32nd classification round.
