Ginebra wins PBA Governors’ Cup crown anew, defeats Meralco in Game 6

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel captured the 46th Season PBA Governors’ Cup championship after defeating Meralco Bolts in Game 6, 103-92 at the Mall of Asia Arena.


After falling behind 1-2 in the finals, Ginebra won the last three games to claim their second back-to-back Governors' Cup championships in six years.

LA Tenorio, who provided Ginebra the spark in the fourth quarter, finished with a game-high 30 points on top of four rebounds and four assists to help Gin Kings to wrap up the series at 4-2.

Best Import Justin Brownlee recorded 24 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, while Christian Standhardinger posted 19 points and 13 rebounds for Ginebra in the win.

Scottie Thompson, the Best Player of the Conference and adjudged as the Finals Most Valuable Player, added 15 markers.


The victory gave Ginebra coach Tim Cone his 24th PBA title overall, the most in league history.

Tony Bishop and Aaron Black led the Bolts to stay alive in the series but couldn’t. Bishop tallied 21 points and 16 rebounds while Black scored 18 points.

Meralco suffered their fourth finals defeat against Ginebra.
