Highlights: Gilas Pilipinas escapes Thailand for 1st win in SEA Games 2017

Troy Rosario, Kiefer Ravena, Baser Amer, Christian Standhardinger delivered the clutch baskets for Gilas Pilipinas as Philippines escaped with an 81-74 victory over Thailand, in their first game in the 2017 SEA Games Men's Basketball tournament on Sunday night (August 20) at MABA Stadium in Malaysia.

The Philippines, trailing 71-69 with more than 4 minutes left after a three-pointer from Thailand, responded with huge baskets from Rosario, Ravena, Amer and Standhardinger to seal the game for Gilas.

Rosario led the Gilas in scoring with 16 points to go with 10 rebounds and two steals. Christian Standhardinger, who flew in from Lebanon after his stint in FIBA Asia Cup, collected 15 points and 10 boards.

Bobby Ray Parks, who forced the fifth and final foul of Thailand’s top player Tyler Lamb, contributed with 14 points, three assists and four steals.

Ravena added 11 markers for Gilas, while Amer scored only six point but handed out 10 assists.

Lamb led Thailand with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Kannut Samerjai and Chitchai Ananti had 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
