Philippine Malditas settle for fourth place after losing to Myanmar

Philippine Malditas settled for fourth place in the 2019 AFF Women's Championship after falling to Myanmar, 0-3, on Tuesday, August 27, in the battle for bronze medal at the Institute of Physical Education Chonburi Stadium in Thailand.


The first goal was scored in the 63rd minute by Yee Yee Oo. Myanmar doubled up their lead just three minutes later courtesy of Nu Nu.

Nu Nu added another goal to give the Myanmar a 3-0 win.

Despite missing the podium, the Philippines made history by reaching the semifinals of the AFF Women's Championship for the very first time.

The Philippines national women's football team advanced to the semifinals for the first time after defeating the Singapore, 4-0 last Friday, August 23. The Malditas wound up with three wins and one loss in the group stage.

The Philippine team fell short against Vietnam, 2-1, in the semifinals.

The Philippines ended their 2019 AFF campaign with 17 goals while conceding nine.
