The San Miguel Beermen opened their title defense campaign in the PBA Philippine Cup on a strong note as they defeated the Magnolia Hotshots, 94-78.
Five players led by Mo Tautuaa scored double-digit points for the Beermen.
Tautaa finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Arwind Santos had 18 points and 15 boards to go with his 5 steals. Terrence Romeo had 19 points, Marcio Lassiter added 17 markers, and Alex Cabagnot contributed 10.
The Beermen shot 48.7% from the field while limiting the Hotshots to just 38.3%.
Paul Lee led the Hotshots with 19 points, while Jackson Corpuz had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ian Sangalang also had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
