Deschon Winston sizzles in UAAP debut as DLSU survives UE

The DLSU Green Archers survived the UE Red Warriors, 71—66 in the UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball tournament opener, Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Fil-Am guard Deschon Winston sizzled in his first game with the Green Archers putting up 22 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds and three steals.

Justine Baltazar added double-double of 12 points, 11 boards, while Evan Nelle tallied 11 points, four steals, three assists as DLSU gave head coach Derrick Pumaren a win in his return to De La Salle University men's basketball team.

Nico Paranada and Harvey Pagsanjan scored 13 apiece in the loss for Red Warriors.
