Shabazz Muhammad scores 57 points as San Miguel erase 26-point deficit to defeat Meralco

The San Miguel Beermen overcame a 26-point deficit to defeat the Meralco Bolts 115-110 in the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup on Saturday.

Shabazz Muhammad exploded with 45 of his 57-point total in the second half to help the the Beermen finished the eliminations with 7-4 win-loss record.

The five-year NBA veteran, who converted 18 out of 29 field goal attempts and 5 out 9 from the 3-point range, also recorded 19 rebounds plus an assist, a steal and a block but with seven errors in 45 minutes of action.

San Miguel trailed 70-46 after the first half. Chris Banchero opened the second half with a basket to push the Meralco's lead to 26, 72-46. The Beermen led by Muhammad went to work in the third period outscoring the Bolts 37-22 to cut the lead to 11, 92-83.

In the final period, Muhammad put on an incredible offensive display, tallying 21 points, outscoring the entire Bolts by three to seal the Beermen's victory.

June Mar Fajardo contributed with double-double 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Vic Manuel and Marcio Lassiter added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for San Miguel.

Tony Bishop had 29 markers and 14 boards while Bong Quinto tallied 18 points for the Bolts in the deflating defeat. Meralco dropped to 6-4 record.
