Blackwater stuns Magnolia to end 29-game losing streak

Blackwater Bossing ended its 29-game losing streak.

The Bossing stunned the league leader Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots with a 101-100 victory in the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday.

Barkley Ebona scored the go-ahead basket off a Mark Barroca turnover with 10.5 seconds left, while rookie Rey Suerte denied Jackson Corpuz’s lay-up in the final play as the Blackwater grabbed their first win since October 17, 2020.

Import Shawn Glover led the Bossing in scoring with 33 points on top of nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Suerte added 16 points, five rebounds and two assists, while JVee Casio and Andre Paras contributed 12 points each. Ebona and Paul Desiderio finished eight apiece.

Mark Barroca scored a career-high 27 points including 12 in the fourth quarter to lead the Hotshots. Mike Harris tallied 21 points and 17 rebounds in the loss.

The Hotshots finished the eliminations as the no. 1 team with a 9-2 record.
