Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons return to indoor volleyball

After a successful stint in beach volleyball, Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons are making their return to indoor volleyball.

Two of the Philippines’ best beach volleyball players will be competing in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference, which is set to start later this month.

Rondina will be playing for Choco Mucho, while Pons will be playing for Creamline. The two teams are sister teams, which owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation, popularly known as Rebisco.


Before playing for different teams in the PVL, Sisi and Bernadeth last played together for the Petron Blaze Spikers in the Philippine Superliga

In 2019, Cherry Ann Rondina, popularly known as Sisi, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 women's volleyball tournament. She led the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses to the finals, where they lost to the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles.

Meanwhile, Pons played for the FEU Lady Tamaraws for five years. She helped the team end a nine-year finals drought by eliminating the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the Final Four of UAAP Season 80. However, they lost to the De La Salle Lady Archers in the Finals.

Rondina and Pons are two-time bronze medalists in beach volleyball at the Southeast Asian Games in the 30th and 31st edition of the biennial regional multi-sport event.

The PVL Invitational Conference will be a great opportunity for Rondina and Pons to showcase again their skills in indoor volleyball. It will also be a chance for them to help their respective teams win the championship.
