Lyceum Pirates secured a thrilling 85-81 victory over the Benilde Blazers in an exciting matchup during the NCAA Season 99 Men's Basketball Tournament.
JM Bravo emerged as the star of the game, leading the Pirates to an upset win. He stepped up with an impressive 18 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field, and contributing 8 rebounds in just 21 minutes off the bench.
Enoch Valdez, who is set to join the PBA, provided significant support with 16 points, showcasing his skills with a 5-of-12 shooting performance. This victory marked the Pirates' first triumph over the Blazers since Gilbert Malabanan took over as their head coach in Season 97.
Notably, the Blazers played without their star big man and reigning MVP, Will Gozum, who was serving a one-game suspension due to his ejection in Game 3 of last season's championship round.
Miggy Corteza led the scoring for the Blazers with an impressive 21 points, contributing four rebounds and five blocks to the game. Robi Nayve added 13 points to their effort, although it wasn't enough to secure the win for Benilde.
