Preview: Ateneo vs. NU
The defending champions, Ateneo, are all set to begin their title defense in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament opener as they square off against NU.
Ateneo, who reclaimed the championship crown in Season 85, is looking to continue their dominance despite losing key players like Ange Kouame, Dave Ildefonso, Forthsky Padrigao, and BJ Andrade. They still boast a formidable lineup with talents such as Mason Amos, Kai Ballungay, and Sean Quitevis.
Their opponents, the Bulldogs of National University, are fielding an intact lineup from last season led by Jake Figueroa, Omar John, and Kean Baclaan. Coach Jeff Napa has also welcomed new additions, Rein Jumamoy and Mark Parks, who is the brother of former NU star Ray.
