San Miguel Holds Off TNT with Late Defensive Stand

In a nail-biting showdown at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, San Miguel Beermen narrowly edged past TNT Tropang Giga, securing a hard-fought 91-89 victory in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday.

The game reached a fever pitch in the dying seconds as Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser attempted a game-winning three-pointer, only to miss the mark, allowing the Beermen to escape with the win.

San Miguel displayed resilience throughout the game, coming through with a follow-up victory after their triumphant conference debut against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Friday. With two consecutive wins in three nights, the Beermen joined Magnolia as the only teams with clean slates heading into the All-Star Week and the Lenten Season break.

Star player June Mar Fajardo delivered a double-double performance with 15 points and an impressive 17 rebounds, leading San Miguel Beer to remain undefeated in the conference so far.

Supporting Fajardo's stellar performance, Marcio Lassiter, Jericho Cruz, and Don Trollani each contributed 12 points to bolster the team's offense.

On the opposing side, veterans Jason Castro and Kelly Williams spearheaded TNT Tropang Giga's offensive efforts, with Castro scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists, while Williams added 14 points to the tally.

Despite a valiant effort from TNT, which also saw notable contributions from RR Pogoy, Calvin Oftana, and Kim Aurin, they fell short of following up on their previous victory over Terrafirma.

San Miguel's victory over TNT Tropang Giga adds another chapter to their competitive rivalry in the PBA Philippine Cup, highlighting the intense competition in the league's season-ending all-Filipino tournament.
