Negros Muscovados secure 73-62 victory against Marikina Shoemasters

The Negros Muscovados held off a late surge from the Marikina Shoemasters to secure a convincing 73-62 victory in the 2024 MPBL season on Monday night. The game was played at the Orion Sports Complex in Bataan.

The revamped Negros Muscovados showcased their prowess, leaving the hapless Marikina Shoemasters struggling to keep up. Led by Renz Palma, the Muscovados delivered a stellar performance. Palma, with 14 points, also contributed 3 rebounds and 5 assists.


While Palma’s contribution was crucial, it was Jeremy Cruz who stole the spotlight. Cruz’s impressive stat line of 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists earned him the title of Best Player of the Game. Cruz’s three outside hits added to the team’s firepower, demonstrating their versatility.

The Muscovados’ offensive attack was well-distributed. In addition to Palma and Cruz, Yvan Ludovice chipped in with 11 points.


Despite the loss, the Marikina Shoemasters fought valiantly. Miguel Castellano led their scoring with 14 points, complemented by 8 rebounds and an assist. Joe Gomez De Liano, the team’s second-best scorer, contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds.
