PLDT High Speed Hitters cruise past Akari Chargers

The PLDT High Speed Hitters earned their first win in the 2023 PVL Second All-Filipino Conference as they swept the Akari Chargers, 25-16, 25-16, 25-23, on Thursday, October 19, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.


The High Speed Hitters dominated the first two sets with their superior offense and defense. They also showed their composure in the third set when the Chargers tried to extend the match. The High Speed Hitters improved their record to 1-1.

Savannah Davison towed the High Speed Hitters with 19 points on 14 attacks, three blocks, and an ace. She was ably supported by Dell Palomata, Erika Santos, and Royse Tubino, who contributed 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively.

The High Speed Hitters outscored the Chargers in spikes (51-33), and aces (8-1).

Meanwhile, Akari absorbed its first loss of the conference as its third-set surge fell short.

The Chargers failed to carry over the momentum from their impressive opening victory over the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on Tuesday. They dropped to a 1-1 record.

Faith Nisperos and Dindin Manabat led the way for the Chargers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. They also got some help from Christine Suyod and Fifi Sharma, who added seven and five points, respectively.

The High Speed Hitters will face the Farm Fresh Foxies in their next game, while the Chargers will try to bounce back against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Tuesday, October 24.
